B&W Launches Exclusive DM601 Fatboy Slim Speaker

November 14, 2006 FATTER SOUND AS LEGENDARY DJ TEAMS UP WITH B&W TO LAUNCH ‘DM601 FATBOY’ FATBOY SLIM HELPS DESIGN NEW SPEAKER The biggest superstar DJ of the past decade has teamed up with classic Great British speaker firm Bowers & Wilkins to offer the ultimate in cool sound: the B&W DM601 Fatboy. Fatboy Slim - the original DJ-turned-worldwide-popstar - has joined forces with B&W to create the specially designed speaker ideal for anyone looking for quality audio reproduction in their home entertainment system, from old skool vinyl to High Definition DVD. The B&W DM601 Fatboy features artwork from his recent Greatest Hits compilation ‘Why Try Harder’, and is based on the 600 Series of hi-fi and home theatre speakers, which has been one of B&W’s most popular ranges for over a decade. It features a host of cutting-edge technologies – tube-loaded tweeter, Kevlar bass/midrange driver with open chassis, Flowport vent and Matrix-style bracing – which were originally developed for B&W’s classic models including the iconic Nautilus® speaker…yours for a cool £35,000 the pair. Fortunately, the new Limited Edition B&W DM601 Fatboy is a little easier on the wallet, costing £300 a pair from selected stockists - and each set comes with a free ‘Why Try Harder’ Greatest Hits CD. Fatboy - aka Norman Cook - has used B&W speakers for many years, and knows the company well as they are neighbours: B&W’s HQ in Worthing is just a short distance from Fatboy’s luxury East Sussex sea-front home. Fatboy comments: “It’s a real honour to have this special speaker made up. I have used B&W speakers for years. Sound good don't they!" B&W is the world’s biggest specialist speaker company and celebrates 40 years in 2006. The Great British Speaker firm has supplied speakers to a host of British musical institutions since 1966, from Abbey Road Studios to Peter Gabriel and ex-Eurythmic Dave Stewart. B&W high-end speaker products are available from over 3,000 retailers in 62 countries around the world, making it Britain’s leading exporter of hi-fi speakers. Since 2000 several dedicated B&W showrooms have opened around the world, and in 2005 it received the Queen's Award for Innovation. A passion for music - deeply engrained by founder John Bowers and remembered by many still at B&W that worked for him in the early days – remains a core value of the company.
